This is the time of year when many people are hitting the road to visit their friends and loved ones. If you’re hosting guests this year, we’ve put together ten tips to help add a few extra touches and create a welcoming environment.

    1. Add a bit of seasonal decor to your entryway or front porch so that when your guests arrive, they know their visit to your home is a special time for you, too.

    1. Give your guests a bit of freedom by providing them with a spare house key.
    2. Provide the Wifi password in a clearly visible spot in the room where your guests are staying.
    3. Clear out some space in the closet, drawers, or floor for the guests to unpack their suitcases and large coats and set aside their suitcases.
    4. Ask for dietary restrictions before their visit. It can be awkward if your guest is unable to eat meals because of allergies or they follow a specific diet. Make it easier on them (and yourself) by asking for their food preferences at least 2 weeks in advance.
    5. Leave a pitcher and a glass for water in near their sleeping area, so your guests don’t have to find their way to the sink in the middle of the night.
    6. Hungry guests are sometimes too shy to ask their hostess for snacks outside meal times. Make a “Butler Corner” on the kitchen counter, dining room table or in their room if they are staying in a separate guest room the night before with a few bowls, utensils, tea packets, coffee, snacks for easy use.
    7. Show your guests around the town. If you have other commitments during their stay, leave them a map and a list of recommended places to visit in your area. They can have fun exploring and you can get a short break from playing hostess for a little while.
    8. Entertain your guests with a fun game night! Everyone will be able to appreciate the quality time and make new memories. Here’s a list of five family-friendly board games to consider adding to your game closet.
    9. Often guests forget the bathroom essentials when they are busy packing for a trip. Leave a basket in the bathroom with things like shampoo, conditioner, soap and other toiletries.

  1. Don’t forget to leave out a spare toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss to help everyon stick to their oral health routines and maintain their healthy, holiday smiles!

Happy Hosting!
