Truly surprised to see these 1-star reviews. I had such a great experience with Dr. Alain Selenou-Tema and his team! I was in a lot of pain when I called and asked for an emergency appointment. They got me in quickly and didn’t keep me waiting forever in the chair. From the start, everyone was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. What really stood out to me was that Dr. Selenou-Tema didn’t sound like a car salesman trying to upsell me on things I didn’t need; just honest advice and fair prices. He also took the time to explain everything in so I actually understood what was going on.

He was gentle, reassuring, and kept checking in to make sure I was okay the whole time. His assistants were also amazing. Friendly, patient, and just as caring. It’s so refreshing to find a dentist who’s skilled, honest, and actually human. This visit restored my faith in humanity. 💗

It’s the best!

I don’t know where these 1 Star Experiences are coming from, but honestly I had an amazing experience the two times I went here. I came in with a cracked tooth my filling had cracked and fell off (work performed from another dentist a year ago) and the receptionist had me fill out some paperwork and I sat down and waited about 5 minutes and then they walked me right in. I got an X-Ray on the area and the dentist came in, he told me I needed a crown because there was no room left to put a filling in as shaving the tooth down would invade the soft tissue or get too close to the nerves. He also pointed out that I had another tooth next to it that had decay within the tooth and a crack as well, it needed a root canal. He told me the tooth next to that one only needed a filling due to the decay. They quoted me nearly $5000 because I had no dental insurance coverage on major repairs. I thought this was quite expensive, I decided to only get done what I needed so I can go back with some coverage. The best part is, they shave down my tooth and gave me a temporary crown and gave me important instructions not to eat on that side for 2 weeks. He used some fancy camera tool to recreate my tooth and when I came back in 2 weeks he put the tooth on and man…it looks like my real tooth! 2 months later I’m no longer in pain, I eat whatever I want on that side of my mouth (even drink cold water) and it’s like I never had any issues. This procedure cost me $1200 unfortunately I didn’t have money for it so they had an in-house financing option that had 0% interest. This place has been a win-win for me all around! Definitely coming back. Oh and every time I came in I was greeted with a smile and only waited 5-10 minutes for my appointment!

I had a very pleasant experience yesterday, 10/02/24 I didn’t ask for her name but she did mention to me she was knew to the office. She was very patient and very sweet, I felt very nervous visiting for a regular cleaning, with her calm comment she made me feel at ease! I felt like she’s the spirt of the dental office :)

My appointment was at 8am but the staff came to open the office at 8:02am and the remaining staff started to arrive shortly after. Even though I got seen at 8:10am (less than 15 mins late), the office was obviously not ready for the 8am appointment. You should not schedule your 1st appointment of the day at 8am when your staff gets in at 8am!

I have been under the care of Dr. Selenou at the Bright Now Dental on the Duke Street, Alexandria, VA, for the past twelve months for major dental work that included a large number of dental crowns in a single procedure.
I am very pleased with Dr. Selenou’s work and his professionalism and dedication to patient care. After every major procedure Dr. Selenou called me at home the following day to ensure that I was well and not in any discomfort. I appreciated his concern towards his patients, a quality ot common among the very best in his profession.
Dr. Selenou went out of his way to offer emergency care during the weekends, if there was a need. I highly appreciate that.
My dental work is now complete, and I am very pleased with the overall results.
Finally, I have highly recommended Dr. Selenou to my friends and colleagues at work.

I had a deep cleaning. The room was way to cold for a regular business. Very little information was given ahead of procedure as to what to expect and next to no information given for after. The dentist and hygienist hard to understand. The procedure itself was fine.

My appointment was at 11:30am
I got there 11:10am, filled up some forms.
Waited till 12pm to be on the dental chair the dentist came in saying “talk to me” … ok.
The dentist left and I waited another 15minutes for the dental assistant.
Got X-rays done for first time patient, paid $31 for an oral cancer check up - received no documents for it, only a verbal “it’s negative”.
I would’ve at least expected a paper saying I’m negative for it. But they said they didn’t do that.

X-rays were a bit blurry, the dental assistant told the dentist she tried retaking them for better views, it was false.

The dentist left at 1pm.

Will I be coming back? Yes for the convenience.
But I’ll still have to see if I’ll be satisfied with the service I’ll get (prophylaxis, general cleaning)

Staff are kind, supportive, and clearly experienced.

I'm so happy I saw them they explained everything to me I know I'll be good hands. My mouth feels so much better than when I came in.
