Part 3 of this review. I have raised it to 4 stars. The office manager, my favorite dental assistant and Dr. Sarmiento have all reached out to me to correct the situation, explain how the system works and respond to the fact that I need to know exactly what is going on with my treatment. I finally learned what scaling does and why the maintenance stage has to be postponed. The fault of poor communication was partly (maybe mostly) attributable to a disgruntled employee. I feel bad for her, but really, I am just there to take care of my teeth and gums and receive the best advice on what my part is to maintain them. I can’t help but make a lot of noise until I get answers. I am satisfied and can happily recommend this office to others. Part 2 of this review. I am downgrading my review of Bright Now Dental, Palm Bay. No change in my good experience with Dr. Sarmiento, but this place has a peculiar system when it comes to dental maintenance. Step one was deep cleaning to be followed by regular cleaning/polishing. The deep cleaning seemed fine, 4 teeth needing scaling, but the cost was astronomical. It was supposed to be followed with regular maintenance, but the technician said to come back for that procedure on a future visit. Considering the long delay due to COVID19, when only emergency services were permitted, I was way overdue. So I had to wait another 3 weeks, during which time I made a complaint on the price and delay. It made no sense to me (I googled appropriate pricing, so I knew this was not the norm), but the office manager agreed to eliminate the charge for the next phase. I was still bothered by having an office manager make excuses and describe the condition of my teeth to me, when I consider that to be the job of my dentist. Step two: When I came for the regular maintenance a friendly technician polished my teeth, and a third finished the job, adding a third step. This person wore a plexiglass shield, but her mask did not cover her nose. Very disturbing to me. She would not answer any of my questions and seemed very angry. I have never had a disjointed experience like this before. It left me with no assurance that a good job was done; no comments, advice or assessment that normally accompanies routine maintenance. It makes me feel as if this procedure is designed for the benefit of the office and not its purpose, to help the patient maintain healthy teeth. Below is my original review. So far so good. I have a follow up visit that I expect to go as well. So many stars because I felt as if I was in very good hands with Dr. Sarmiento. The protocol for distancing, wearing of masks and availability of hand sanitizer was good. I can’t tell you how long I waited in my car because I fell asleep, but I doubt if it was more than 15 minutes. Last but not least, the dental assistant was nice and efficient. There were also young ones who seemed to be in training who didn’t seem to know what they were doing, but Dr S was patient with them. I was grateful to get a long procedure completed successfully in one session. I see I never posted this. I can add a couple of follow ups. One wait time was an hour. The next was 40 minutes. They add an extra $10 per visit for sanitizing procedures. No complaints since we need them to be in place. I left my previous dentist because it was just too expensive. I am having different procedures now, so I have no basis for comparison., but I know there is a discount with their plan. Again, all the personnel are pleasant and careful. Will see how the (deep) cleaning goes.
